Despite His Differences, Brodie Found A Home And Will Work As A Therapy Dog

 

Brodie is a loving dog, despite the fact that his beginnings were difficult because his mother assaulted him when he was only 13 days old, disfiguring his face and leaving him half blind. Although he may not have the same appearance as others, he is still lovely, and he is well on his way to being the ideal therapy dog.

This puppy, which is one year old, is a Picasso masterpiece. Brodie’s lovely demeanor instantly melts the hearts of everyone.

The dog had found a family after his mother was attacked, but he was subsequently returned to the MacDonald Kennels rescue group in Alberta, Canada, on the grounds that he was too energetic.

Thankfully, he has finally met the proper people, who have learnt to love him unconditionally. Brodie’s tale was shared on the internet, and the pair did not hesitate to travel to the shelter right away.

Amanda expressed herself as follows:

“He’s undoubtedly energetic, but he’s also quite intelligent. His intellect is fine, and he frequently learns tricks in under ten minutes, which tells me he’s a brilliant child.

Amanda, according to Bored Panda, said:

“One day, we aim to train him to be a therapy dog so he may assist other people with impairments,” said the family.

Brodie clearly required patience and willingness. He is now being educated to assist others and has shown to be quite intelligent and practical.

Spanishman Joan’s life was irreparably altered in 2012 by the motorbike accident he had in Italy, which left him wheelchair-bound and unable to use his lower limbs.

The urge to enjoy life to the fullest did not go away despite this change of events. The exhilaration that Joan experienced throughout the races has now led her to new interests.

The biggest motivation in this driver’s life was discovered in the cheetah’s claws, despite the fact that he now uses modified automobiles to remain in the world of racing. Joan understood how to win the cat’s confidence because she had reared him since he was a kitten.

Despite being huge, the animal behaves like any other pet.The man’s decision to live with this partner may appear excessive and hazardous to some, but the two have an unshakable relationship. There is nowhere Joan can go in the home where her cheetah is not present.

Despite the cat’s power and size, the father is kind to the cat, and this was captured in a heartfelt video that the guy published to his Instagram and that surprised everyone.

The animal can be seen sneakily approaching its father in the pictures, where the pampering and affectionate displays start. The guy even brushes his nose to the cheetah’s and licks it, demonstrating how much they trust one another. Is there anything that shows more trust than that?

The cat acts like a true pet and is well-cared for, to the point that it rests its head on its human father’s lap as many cats and puppies do.

Imagine being at your job for 56 years! Well, that’s how long K9 Officer Boomer of Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Sulphur, Oklahoma, was at his job — 56 dog years, that is.

With a long list of on-the-job accomplishments, Boomer, a black lab, retired last month after literally working like a dog protecting national parks.

After completing narcotics detection training in 2011, Boomer started his career at Chickasaw Recreation Area. But don’t let his adorable good looks fool you. Boomer always took his job very seriously.

Ready to Retire

Boomer’s training helped him uncover and sniff out illegal drugs at his home base at Chickasaw. His valuable services were loaned out to other parks, including Mount Rushmore National Memorial, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, and Washita Battlefield National Historic Site.

Always willing to lend a paw, Boomer’s nosy talents helped out at local schools and community groups and were an asset to local law enforcement agencies and even the Post Office when duty called.

This K9 Rocks

Boomer spent his last weeks on the job overseeing his successor, K9 Officer Rex, as he learned the ropes before packing it in for retirement.

After all those years working, we know Boomer must be dog tired. And since every dog has his day, Boomer is now spending lots of time with his family while they wait on him hand and paw providing endless belly rubs and scratches behind the ear. Now, that’s the life of a good dog.

The Ugly Pitbull No One Wants To Stay In The Shelter For A Long Time Finally Finds A Home

 

Wally waited a year in the shelter as everyone passed him by because of how he looks.
All shelter dogs are waiting to be adopted, but some unfortunately end up waiting longer than others.

The sad reality is that oftentimes, people decide on their new pet based on appearance and often opt for the cutest puppy available, overlooking some of the more unconventional-looking dogs.
But these dogs deserve love, too… like this good boy who spent years waiting for the right forever home, but finally got his happy ending.

Meet Wally the pit bull:

Wally doesn’t look like your ordinary dog, to be sure. But he’s had a rough life and is just looking for a family to spend his final years with.
Wally was first brought to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter on Long Island, New York, he was a stray and already nearly 10 years old.
He also had some health problems, including a skin infection and blindness in one eye, according to The Dodo. This all gave poor Wally an appearance that the shelter worried would turn potential adopters away.

However, he proved to have a wonderful personality and became a favorite of the shelter workers.

“He loves to slobber on you and will do anything for some food,” veterinary tech Danielle Gorle told The Dodo. “He also likes to just hang out and not do anything.”

“Wally is an amazing walrus/hippo/rhino dog that really just needs a home that accepts him and to spend his golden years in!” Jen, a shelter volunteer, wrote on Facebook.

“He is a little mush and volunteer favorite.”

Sadly, many visitors to the shelter failed to see the beauty beneath. Wally has waited a year to find a new home with no takers. He needed to be the only pet and is not good with other animals.

And the shelter says the rejection began to take a toll on his wellbeing.

“He seems to be declining,” Gorle said. “He was happier when he first came in. He likes when he gets to go out but he seems depressed in his kennel.”

But Wally’s story has a happy ending.

About a month after he went viral and we first reported on the dog, the shelter announced that Wally had finally found his forever home!

“He is relaxing comfortably and looks great!” the shelter wrote.

We’re so happy for Wally! All dogs deserve a loving home, no matter what they look like.

A dog has his tongue stuck to the manhole cover in cold weather 

When a Good Samaritan rushed in to aid with the solution, the sobbing dog was desperately attempting to free its own frozen tongue.

When a bystander noticed the unfortunate animal’s condition, he ran over and poured his bottle of water down his tongue, trying to boost the temperature and liberate him.

The man is seen slowly pouring the liquid while the dog wiggles about.

The dog was eventually released and was glad to approach the guy for a stroking after his trauma.

It is unclear whether the dog had an owner or was a stray, or whether it had any veterinary care.

On Thursday, the clip was shot in Vladivostok, Russia.

This good Samaritan used warm water to help the dog escape from his tongue becoming stuck in a frozen well.

Brave herding dog fights with 11 coyotes to protect the sheep he is herding

 

Capser put himself in harm’s way to save the sheep’s lives 

Dogs are such intelligent, protective animals. That’s especially true for sheep herding dogs, who have an important job of watching over their flock and protecting them from harm.

Recently, one heroic Great Pyrenees herding dog went above-and-beyond, saving the sheep by fighting off a pack of 11 wild coyotes.

According to 11Alive, a pack of coyotes appeared at a home in Decatur, Georgia on November 3, going after the owner’s sheep. Homeowner John Wierwille said he was initially able to scare them off, but the coyotes came back later that night.

But thankfully, his 20-month-old Great Pyrenees livestock herding dog, Casper, was there and ready to defend the flock against the attacking coyotes.

After the coyotes got into the pen, Casper put up a fierce defense. The animals fought for 30 minutes, and Casper reportedly killed 8 coyotes. But the dog also suffered his own injuries, all to protect the sheep.

The remaining coyotes fled, and Casper took off after them, leading to the owner fearing that the dog had died in the battle. But after a search, John found his dog, alive but greatly injured.

“He looked like death, I mean he looked terrible,” John told 11Alive. “He came back home and he just kind of looked at me like ‘boss stop looking at how bad I look, just take care of me.’”

Casper suffered serious injuries to his back and neck, and also lost his tail. Vets and family were initially unsure if Casper would make it, saying he was found in “bad, bad condition.”

But despite the odds against him, Casper has been making a slow but steady recovery.

“He’s lucky to be alive,” said Dr. Susan Brosman of LifeLine Animal Project.

“He looks great now, he’s in good spirits,” added clinic supervisor Maisie Hale. “I love him. He’s such a good boy.”

Online fundraising reportedly covered the cost of Casper’s medical bills, which will cost about $15,000-$20,000. Casper still has a few months of recovery left, but for now he’s in good spirits and is being praised as a hero.

“He’s a hero for sure,” Dr. Brosman said.

Service Dog Refuses To Leave Mom’s Side After Saving Her Life

When Shauna Darcy first got Ruby, she got her as a service dog to help her cope with her anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia. From the very beginning, Ruby proved to be a wonderful service dog and companion – and it was clear there was no limit to Ruby’s devotion.

Shauna said, “While she was training to be a service dog I noticed that she started picking up on changes in my heart rate and would act funny — for example, paw at me, try to get my attention, get on top of me, etc.”

Choosing to listen to Ruby’s cues, Shauna went to see a doctor and quickly learned that she was experiencing health issues she hadn’t known about, including a rare heart condition called vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Ruby had already known something was wrong even before Shauna did, and as a service dog, she quickly switched focus to Shauna’s cardiac issues.

Every day, Ruby helps her with things like monitoring her heart rate and blood pressure, assisting her during panic attacks, as well as retrieving emergency medications. Ruby also carries groceries, picks up dropped items and gets things for Shauna that she can’t reach. Ruby is even trained in deep pressure therapy!

“When I pass out she gets on top of me and applies all her pressure on me and licks my hands and face until I come around,” Shauna said.

Ruby is there for her round the clock – even when Shauna doesn’t realize she needs her.

Last week, when Ruby started alerting her that something was wrong, she had no idea why. Shauna was feeling fine but chose to trust Ruby and call an ambulance – just in case.

“It turns out my heart was going into atrial fibrillation,” she said. “By the time the paramedics came, I was in pain and barely conscious.”

As the paramedics rushed her to the hospital, it dawned on her that Ruby had just saved her life.

While Shauna was in the hospital and the doctors worked to stabilize her, Ruby refused to leave her side. Even while she was unconscious, Ruby lay in her hospital bed, pressed up against her, hoping Shauna could sense she was there and that she would feel safe.

During their hospital stay, lots of people stopped by to meet Ruby. She’s always very popular whenever she and Shauna go – but always sticks close to Shauna’s side, as she loves her so much. And Shauna loves her right back.

Without Ruby, Shauna’s life would be very different. Ruby helps to keep her healthy and safe every day, and Shauna couldn’t be more grateful for Ruby’s love and loyalty.

“I wouldn’t be alive without her,” she said.

This Labrador With A Cleft Lip And Palate Can Now Enjoy And Play After Receiving Successful Surgery

 

This dog has come a long way and just received successful surgery to fix his mouth. Felix is now well and cheerful, and he even took his first walk to the river in a long time.

Felix’s father, Jamie, told Bored Panda:

“I’ve been caring for Felix since he was 11 days old. I was the rescue worker summoned by the breeder after they realized that one of their litter’s puppies was not flourishing and was in fact dying due to a severe cleft palate and cleft lip, preventing him from properly feeding on his mother.

Jamie retells:

“At this time, he had acquired aspiration pneumonia and was not going to live another 24 hours.” I brought him home with me and fed him through a tube for the following seven weeks. I also helped him with his pneumonia. He’s currently a 14-month-old mature black Labrador retriever!’

Felix is a warrior who doesn’t allow his medical issues stop him from enjoying himself and having a good time. This Labrador also has digestive issues due to the fact that his intestines was created on the other side of his body; he only has one functional eyeball, and his jaws are misaligned. His face has a distinct aspect.

Jamie continued:

“He can only consume canned food since none of his teeth match. I offer him hard food now and again to make him feel like he’s part of the gang, but he has a hard time picking it up. Nonetheless, it keeps him occupied.

Felix had surgery to fix his clefts in January of this year. The dog has a unilateral cleft palate that affects both the hard and soft palates, according to his parent. The veterinarian did an excellent job, and he was able to rebuild his palate difficulties using his own tissue.

Felix was unable to eat or drink regularly prior to his operation. Every time he fed, his father cleansed the food from his cleft.

Jamie continued:

“Since his operation, he has developed a neurological tic that causes him to spin and bark into the air on occasion, most likely owing to the dislocation of his skull. We’re putting new medications to the test to see whether they can assist him.

Felix is from a huge family with four furry brothers, one of which, Samy, has cleft troubles as well, although not as bad as Felix’s and has not required surgery. PB, a 12-year-old dachshund, a charming terrier, and Meera, who looks like a greyhound, are his other rescued siblings.

The farmer appears to be at ease with his family and appears to be content.

Jamie narrates:

“He’s blissfully unaware of his health issues, and he has more energy than he or I know what to do with.” Last weekend, I was able to take him swimming for the first time in his life, and he performed fantastic. I’m hoping I’ll be able to teach him to be a “genuine retriever.”

Felix enjoys playing, and following his operation, he has been able to grasp toys in his mouth once more; he is also quite strong and lively.

Jamie recalls:

“He had a feeding tube coming out of his neck after his operation, and I had to pump liquid dog food for a few weeks.” He never complained and remained completely still while doing it.

But he’s a wicked boy, and he ate two of his toys just days after his operation, necessitating yet another surgery.
